YOUR FIRST LINE OF DEFENCE -
in four simple, safe steps. |
|
| |
Step 1
 |
Before
the introduction
of birds to a
previously
used coop or building
|
- Remove old bedding
- Spray interior areas and
all equipment with Poultry
Shield solution (1 part
Poultry Shield with 9 parts
water). Pay particular
attention to roof joints
-
Leave to soak for one hour,
then wash / brush clean
- Leave to soak for one hour,
then wash / brush clean
|
- The double action of Poultry Shield
destroys red mites while at the same
time its powerful detergent action
dissolves dirt and grease allowing for
easier cleaning
- Bio-degradable
- Can be used in organic production
systems
- Safe to use even when birds are
presents
|
|
|
| |
Step 2

|
When introducing birds
|
- Add BioDri powder to the
litter at the rate of 50gms
per square metre
- Sprinkle more BioDri onto
the litter as required once or
twice per week, depending
on levels of soiling
- Pay particular attention
to pop-holes and to areas
around drinkers and feeders
|
- BioDri is the only product of its kind to
contain a Defra approved disinfectant
– Bio VX
- It will absorb up to twice as much
water as similar products
- Completely harmless to birds
- Absorbs ammonia, so reducing odour
- Rapidly reduces numbers of harmful
bacteria through both its disinfectant
qualities and its drying action
- Increases bedding life
|
|
|
| |
Step 3 |
Protect water supply
|
- Rinse out drinkers weekly
with a solution of Poultry
Shield solution (1 part
Poultry Shield with 9 parts
water)
|
- Drinkers are potentially major sources
of infection – particularly when sited in
outdoor runs
- Regular cleaning and disinfection
greatly reduces the chance of
spreading infection
|
|
|
| |
Step 4

|
Parasite
control
|
- Spray all joints in woodwork
and roofs with Poultry
Shield once per week
(diluted 1 part Poultry Shield
to 9 parts water)
- Pay particular attention to
nesting boxes and roosts.
- Sprinkle Diatom powder (at
50 gms per square metre)
